Will O’Meara

Will has been farming in New England since 2011 and has been involved with the New CT Farmer Alliance (NCTFA) and the National Young Farmers Coalition since 2013. He cut his teeth at farms and gardens in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and California before serving as Assistant Farm Manager at Waldingfield Farm in Washington, CT from 2017-2019. In 2017, he joined the steering committee of NCTFA and began advocating for better access to land and resources for beginning and under-resourced farmers. In 2020, Will and his partner, Jill, started Hungry Reaper Farm in Morris, CT, where they grow organic vegetables and flowers for their CSA, direct sales, and wholesale. They have bounced between three leased locations and recently secured a long-term lease with a purchase option that will give them security to grow and invest in their farm. Off farm, Will works as the CT Field Agent for Land For Good and assists farmers in accessing land, negotiating fair leases, purchasing farmland, navigating government programs, and creating farm succession plans.
