The Discrimination Financial Assistance Program (DFAP) application period closed on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. The DFAP program was open to farmers who have experienced discrimination in USDA lending prior to January 1, 2021. As a USDA cooperator, Young Farmers made hundreds of calls to farmers, hosted social media lives, wrote several blog post articles, and passed out flyers at local farmer events to get the word out to farmers about the program.
The National Administrator and Regional Hubs are now in the process of reviewing and scoring the applications, using a USDA-approved rubric. All eligible applications will be referred to USDA for approval of payments, and decisions will be made for all applications at the same time. Payments for approved applications will be delivered by check through the U.S. mail shortly after decisions are made.
You can check the status of your application by calling 1-800-721-0970 or (if you filed your application online) by visiting forms.22007apply.gov. Your confirmation ID is helpful to retrieve your application status but not required.
The Discrimination Financial Assistance Program call center will also remain open until after program payments are made. English- and Spanish-speaking agents are available. You can also email questions to info@22007apply.gov. All customer offices are closed as of January 18, 2024.
