Greenhouse season is on, and we know you have some questions. Thanks to our friends at Johnny’s Selected Seeds, we’ve got answers. Head on over to our online Farmer Forum this week to ask any and all questions on seedling care, varieties, germination issues, planting, growing under cover, etc. On our newly launched Farmer Forum, we’re creating a space for conversation among farmers across the country to troubleshoot farm problems, discuss policy, and share information and opportunities. This week Johnny’s is providing our first “Forum Expert”– we’ll continue to bring diverse contributors to offer you expert advice in addition to the 24/7 experience and knowledge of your peers.
Paul Gallione, a Research Technician at Johnny’s, will be answering questions on the forum topic Vegetables, Flowers and Grains from Monday, April 29th– Friday, May 3rd. Paul’s job at Johnny’s is to respond to customer technical growing questions and to maintain the technical information available to customers.
Paul has been actively engaged in agriculture since the mid-1970’s. He started as a field hand on a large fruit and vegetable farm in northern New Jersey during high school. Then he got a degree in Agronomy in the early 1980’s. He has operated two small organic farms since then, first in Connecticut and for the past 16 years in Waldo, Maine. Paul raises hoop house tomatoes, strawberries, and sweet corn, along with a mix of other vegetables and flowers to supply his farm stand. He also serves as chairman on the Waldo County Soil and Water Conservation District Board.
Paul is here for us this week—so ask away!
