Sedrick Kent Rowe Jr. is an organic peanut farmer from Albany, GA. He attended Fort Valley State University on a full football scholarship and received a Bachelor in Plant Science with a concentration inHorticulture. After college he worked for a nonprofit organization called South West Georgia Projects under Mrs. Shirley Sherrod. While employed for two years he also received a Masters in Public Health with a thesis on organic peanuts published in “Journal of Agriculture and Life Sciences.” Although involved in agriculture since he was young, Sedrick is a first-generation farmer and started out with 10 Certified Organic acres where he grows Organic peanuts and sunflowers. He was among one of three farmers to grow Organic peanuts for market in 2019 and has helped to create a niche market for young farmers to survive and thrive. He has recently started a South Georgia Young Farmers Coalition chapter.
