My name is Quatia Osorio, I am an urban farmer and aspiring Midwife. This work is motivated by my passion in Maternal Child Health as Perinatal Doula. The farm is not just about nutrition, it is a healing space for peace and a safe place for expecting families to build within their community. The movements of farming also provide flexibility of the birthing body and squatting places babies in optimal position for delivery, decreasing chances for interventions, cesarean sections, and potentially better postpartum recovery. The marriage of these two justice movements, maternal environmental justice, is vital to the health and wellness of our communities. Plans for the grant are grow our consumption through a local farmers market, expand our land usage and educate on urban farming.
