Melony Edwards is a first-generation farmer who is on the journey of reclaiming her farming heritage. Along the way, Edwards landed on a 20 acre mixed vegetable farm in rural Western Washington, where she immersed herself in small-scale agricultural practices. One of Edwards’ many goals is to foster a larger community of farmers stewarding open-pollinated seeds. She has a particular interest in culturally significant seeds among the African diaspora and wants to adapt varieties that will thrive in the PNW cooler climate. Additionally, Edwards advocates for policy reform with national platforms. Her farming adventures continue as she pursues her own farm vision in launching Ebony By Nature, a textile art farm, and extending her knowledge in seed growing and saving.
