Jose Magaña-Salgado is a queer, undocumented, first generation BIPOC farmer, immigrant, and DACA holder who manages Edgewood Community Farm. Established in summer of 2022, Edgewood Community Farm is a non-profit urban farm established in a food desert in Northeast Washington, D.C. that utilizes a co-op model to distribute vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, honey, and herbs to its members, local mutual aid groups, and the local community. The Young Farmer Grant will be utilized to provide generous food stipends to WWOOFers, purchase equipment for our greenhouse, carpentry purposes, for harvesting and distribution, and to construct additional raised garden beds.
