Ujamaa Garden is an experimental youth-centered learning space and community food garden co-founded by three young Bronx natives in their hometown the North Bronx, specifically the Caribbean neighborhood of Wakefield. We consider access to organic, local produce a necessary first step towards liberatory world-making. Ujamaa Garden is a safe space to imagine and experiment with practices of a more caring and free society. With the help of this grant we will increase our food growing capacity to support our distribution program, which supports moms from the local community with free harvest boxes.
