Alex Bryan is the Sustainability Programs Director for Student Life at the University of Michigan, including oversight of the UM Sustainable Food Program, working to support applied learning in food systems and sustainability at the University of Michigan. He is co-founder/owner of Food Field, a 4-acre farm in Detroit, and previously worked at the Greater Lansing Food Bank as the Director of Agricultural Programs, supporting community farms, gardens, and farm business development for under-served populations. He is an AmeriCorps Alums National Award Winner and Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives Honoree for working to bridge the urban and rural divides in farming. Alex is a regular presenter and speaker at local, national and international conferences focusing on urban ag, community gardening, food sovereignty, and student leadership development. He’s most happy when Sugar Snap Peas are in season.
