The Montana Summit on Agricultural Finance will be a gathering of people who share a common interest in helping Montana farmers and ranchers access financing for their land and agricultural businesses. Registrants who sign up by December 15th will receive an early bird discount. Delicious meals will be provided by Chico Hot Springs Resort and are included in the registration fee. Block room rates are available at Chico Hot Springs Resort for February 5th and 6th.
The goal is for participants to leave the summit with new professional contacts, a working understanding of existing agricultural financing tools, an introduction to exciting new tools, and a plan for filling the gaps in agricultural financing going forward.
At the summit, participants will hear directly from each other about challenges, needs, and opportunities they have encountered in accessing or providing agricultural financing. During the more focused, smaller panel sessions and breakouts, participants will learn about innovative financial tools that are being piloted in Montana and in other parts of the country. Throughout, participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversation about how these tools could be adapted or developed to fulfill the needs of Montana farmers, ranchers, and financial service providers.
The summit will feature two keynote speakers. Bart Morris, owner of Oxbow Cattle Company and conservation advocate, will present on building creative partnerships with existing financial tools and how to layer financial tools. Kristen Juras, attorney with statewide expertise in estate and succession planning, will present on the role of farm succession planning and estate planning in designing effective farm transitions.
Space is limited to ensure a relaxed, interactive atmosphere and to give participants opportunities to network and build relationships…and, of course, lounge in the hot springs!
