Over the last year, the National Young Farmers heard from farmers across Pennsylvania about the three greatest challenges they face in starting successful farm operations in the state. Through three listening sessions and a statewide survey, we learned that these top challenges are: access to land, access to farmer business services, and workforce development. These findings, along with recommendations to address these challenges through policy change, were recently published in a report, Growing Pennsylvania’s Future.
To continue the conversation and to address the challenges young farmers face in Western Pennsylvania, the National Young Farmers Coalition will host a series of six forums across the region to gather local technical service providers and farmers to share resources and discuss opportunities regarding market access and readiness, as well as land access.
The first forum will be on August 27th from 5:30-7:30pm at Meadville Market House and the discussion focus on various aspects of market readiness
