Join the National Young Farmers Coalition, Windy City Harvest, and Advocates for Urban Agriculture (AUA) at Rodeo Farm for an On-Farm Produce Safety Walkthrough. This walkthrough will be modeled after On-Farm Readiness Reviews (OFRRs), which are free educational assessments being offered by FDA and Extension to farms that must be in compliance with FSMA’s Produce Safety Rule.
Our walkthrough will highlight Rodeo Farm’s various produce safety practices, pointing out where contamination risks to produce may exist and discussing actions farmers can take to reduce risk. Topics will include workers, soil amendments, wildlife/domesticated animals, water sources and usage, wash/pack station, and transportation. We will keep it conversational so feel free to come with questions!
This conversation will be led by Maggie Kaiser, an urban farmer and nurserywoman who also helps farmers navigate FSMA’s Produce Safety Rule for the National Young Farmers Coalition and facilitates various trainings on the subject. In addition to this walkthrough, Maggie would be happy to have one-on-one produce safety farm walks with beginning farmers leading up to the workshop or afterward. Email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please reach out to Maggie if you need childcare, translation services, or accessibility accommodations.
