We are proud to introduce the 2012 Bootstrap: A blog series written by beginning farmers in their beginning seasons of farming. When NYFC introduced the Bootstrap Blog last year, readers across the country avidly followed the story of Margaret and Tracy of County Rail Farm, outside Missoula, MT.  This year, join six farmers from across the country as they rise to the challenges and revel in the beauty of a life in agriculture.

Follow along with Liberty and Leslie farming at the Salad Garden in Missouri, Maryellen and Matt getting started in upstate New York, Becky with the urban farm project City Grown Seattle, Allyson, who just started her own farm in Connecticut, Stowell who is managing a farm in Maine while also in MOFGA’s journey-person program, and Elizabeth and Karla of Bossy Acres in Minnesota, all farmers in their first few years running their own operations.
