FarmHack@MIT: Event details
Mechanical Innovation in Agriculture: Farmers + Engineers brainstorming together
.
Farmers-
Do you come away from visits to other farms inspired by a tool or system that you just saw? Have you invented things on your farm? Can you describe some challenges on your farm that a team of farmers and engineers might be able to address with a new tool?
Engineers and Designers-
Do you have technical skills that you want to apply to the real world in real time? Are you interested in a direct relationship with the solutions our society needs? Have you considered applying your skillset to sustainable agriculture?
Let’s get together and see if there is overlap between our skills and the logistics+ mechanics of sustainable agriculture.
Get inspired about types of ideas on the FarmHack blog.

Hi,
I’m a student at Appalachian State University (NC) studying Appropriate Technology and Sustainable Agriculture. I think this event is a great idea! Bringing together the creativity of students and hands-on practicality of farmers to create simple yet ingenious solutions for sustainable agriculture is both cutting edge and commendable. I only wish our university could send a group of students and farmers to participate! I think a similar gathering would be very popular down here. Maybe we can put something together soon…
Will the event be streaming live, or recorded and posted online? I Look forward to the results!
Good Luck,
John
Hey John, great to ‘meet’ you and learn about your work at NC State – sounds like a really interesting program. Its a great idea about streaming – perhaps we can look into a live stream of the pitches/public portion of the event? Likewise maybe a kicki-off/morning intros session… We’ll look into it an see what’s doable – thanks for the great idea!
